Mini Implants
Small diameter dental implants, or mini-implants, were first used for temporary stabilization of dentures while standard size implants were healing. When it was noticed that they often remained quite stable for an extended period, dentists began using them for longer-term denture stability, sometimes without placing standard implants. They are not as strong as standard implants, and we do not recommend them as supports for bridgework. However, many patients choose to try mini implants due to the minimal surgery required to place them and the immediate denture stability they provide. Our new 3-D scanner allows us to place implants with state of the art precision.
